Royal Bank of Scotland will this week start the integration of ABN AMRO's investment bank in a move likely to trigger the loss of about 7,000 jobs out of a combined total of 28,000.

Bliffle, I didn't follow your comment #36. We were talking about trends in politics, not in corporations. That "etc." on the end really threw me, because I can't see any connection between your points, or how they relate to the original topic.

In catching up on economic news this week, I've noticed a trend toward real world reports. It's as though a few in the media have awakened to the fact that a large segment of our population is struggling to just get by -- which for regular folks isn't exactly news, but it's a welcome change from the usual indifference.
